Parenting Support for Highly Sensitive and Deeply Feeling Kids

Parenting is always hard, but for those parenting Highly Sensitive or Deeply Feeling Kids parenting can feel like an extreme sport.  You may see your friends playing peacefully with their kids at a playground or navigating playdates with ease while you are left wondering why these simple moments feel so hard.  You may carry anxiety as you engage in new situations or everyday tasks with your child, feeling as though you are walking on eggshells and holding your breath.  It can feel isolating, shameful, and leave you with a nagging fear that something is wrong with you or wrong with your child.

I know first-hand the joy and challenge of parenting these kids and I know that seemingly entrenched family dynamics can change with the right support. I can help you find the balance between emotional validation of your child’s feelings and clarity around your own boundaries.  As this balance is restored, you can let go of fear around your child’s big feelings as you gain the confidence to respond empathetically, effectively, and in a way that feels good to both of you.  You can start to enjoy your child again and the connection you both deeply need.

These sessions can be offered individually or for a couple. I also offer an eight week therapeutic book group on Dr. Becky’s “Good Inside” where skill building and processing take place in a group format.  Schedule a free consultation to learn more or to inquire about the next scheduled book group.
